Most people who know me would associate me with the image on the left, with the usual accessories! Not some cycling buff who goes on mammoth journeys, without any real experience!

Yet that is excatly what I am about to do starting on the 15th May. I'm flying out to Berlin on the 11th so I can buy a bike and all the accessories (not sure about all those tight shorts though ! ).

I'm really looking forward to the challenge, and it should be an amazing way to get to see 2 countries, just a shame that I'll be too friggin knackered to enjoy it while I'm there!! Oh, and unable to walk !!

This is my biggest worry as my knees are not the healthiest in the world (just ask my physio, hi claire) due to lots of damage years ago and pretty severe arthitis these days and a major knee operation looming in the very near future -(do not click here if you are sqeamish! nice use of a hammer though!)

The inside of my left knee (not one of my more flattering photos ! - Yeah, I know - I look like I've lost weight !!!!!) There's meant to be a gap between the two bones in the circle, but my cartilage was removed after a couple of accidents years ago, so the bones have been rubbing together for a very long time, and they ain't quite happy about it now !

That is just the left one, the right one is probably following suit, judging by the pain that is starting after I've been out on a couple of longish rides(well 17 miles is certainly long for me !) .

So I'm just gonna have to see how my knees cope with the constant abuse they will get over the next three weeks !

Watch this space.......
